The view from my bedroom - sometimes I see the leaves of the palm tree out of the corner of my eye and think its a dinosaur peeking into my room.
This is our beautiful chandelier. It is beautiful.
This is me under my fancy-dancy net. It is magical because it keeps the mosquitoes away while at the same time not smothering me in mesh, which some of them do. Also, now I finally have the fairy princess canopy bed I neither had (nor wanted) when I was six.

This is one of the bats here. You may not be able to tell from this photo, but they're HUGE. These are critters that I actually like, amazingly enough, just because they're cool to see swoop through the air at night. Also, so far, they stay outside, which makes me like them a lot more.
This is one of our lovely cockroach friends who I killed. Again, you can't tell from the picture, but these are really really large.
This may be hard to see, but if you look really closely, you can see a little squirrel darting away. Recently I have discovered that a family of squirrels lives in the AC unit in my room, which I have never used. Our landlady didn't seem to think this was a problem for the AC, but it does mean that there's now this group of squirrels who is always running around on my window sill, both outside AND inside my room. Sometimes they climb on the curtains. For those of you who remember the pigeion incident last summer, you know that I am not at all a fan of critters who come into my room. Thus far, they haven't actually come in. I'm crossing my fingers that it stays that way.

I ALSO have a squirrel who lives in my AC unit. Sometimes he comes and visits me inside the apartment. Oh Sri Lankan wildlife.
