EVERYONE LOVES ME

These are the people who love me:

1. That tuk tuk driver who I walk by every day on my way to the library. He asked me if I wanted a ride once, and I said, no I can walk in Sinhala, which of course he thought was hilarious. So now everyday we have a conversation about how I am walking and how I will see him later.

2. The guy at the coffee shop down the road who gave me free coffee. I try not to go very often, because it is very expensive, but this place is the place that I have been out of all of South Asia that feels the most like America. It's not just the posh-ness - I can get that in any number of places. I think its the little stand with sugar, JUST LIKE AMERICA. I had to go yesterday, even though I didn't need an America fix, because our propane was gone, and I needed a something hot to eat and drink in the morning fix.

Ok, that's actually all. I write this to buck up my self esteem after having my Sinhala corrected not once, but twice, by two different tuk tuk drivers the other day. Now, my Sinhala is crappy. Real crappy. But I'm just so un-used to being corrected (as opposed to showered with praise) that it caught me off guard. But mama cake-ekak! I wanted to say.

On the plus side, now I know how to correctly tell a tuk tuk where I want to go in Sinhala.

Well, I don't know about everyone loving you (the cockroaches certainly don't), but I thought you could use a little long distance love today: Happy Birthday! It is today (11/21), yes? I hope my memory hasn't gone to pot . . . hmm. Happy Birthday, regardless of the day! I had grand plans of sending you a birthday card, but unfortunately I don't have your address (hint, hint!). In lieu of card, enjoy another cup of expensive coffee!

(btw. It was near single digits here in Oak Park this morning. You're missing out on a frigid November!)

I scientifically analyzed your blog for you (http://www.typealyzer.com/index.php?lang=en). Here is what I found out:

The analysis indicates that the author of http://formerlythecafeteria.blogspot.com/ is of the type:

ESFP - The Performers
The entertaining and friendly type. They are especially attuned to pleasure and beauty and like to fill their surroundings with soft fabrics, bright colors and sweet smells. They live in the present moment and don´t like to plan ahead - they are always in risk of exhausting themselves.

The enjoy work that makes them able to help other people in a concrete and visible way. They tend to avoid conflicts and rarely initiate confrontation - qualities that can make it hard for them in management positions.
