America is full of paperwork!

So not only did I spend a total of about 5 hours of my vacation looking through boxes so I could find my original LATIN diploma (thanks, Yale) so I can get a work visa for Sri Lanka (this is all in addition to the formal English translation I paid 20 dollars for - thanks again, Yale). But I'm also trying to get a tourist visa for India, which I thought would just mean I had to fill out a form. But no. I filled out the form, but I also need proof of address, which, because my mom just moved, I don't have unless I UPDATE MY DRIVERS LISCENCE. So, to get an Indian visa, first I need to go to the DMV, and go get a money order, then spend an hour trying to hook my computer up to our printer before I give up and go to Kinkos.

AMERICA IS FULL OF PAPERWORK.

But other than that, it is good. Here are the pieces of culture shock that I noticed:

1. I am ALWAYS cold. I wear socks with my sandals, I specifically bought close-toed shoes, and I bring my mother's borrowed jacket everywhere. This though, I suppose, is climate shock, not culture shock.
2. I cross the street everywhere, and don't wait for the light.
3. Um, that seems to be it. I sometimes say funny things in weird English, and I do feel a little weird wearing tight or low-cut clothes in public, but other than that things seem ok.

Um, also I am going back to Sri Lanka for a year, if anyone still reads this ever. More to come. But for real Amy.
